Exploring mysticism, human consciousness and the search for truth for Journey to the East festival
Journey to the East is a festival of performance art, dance and contemporary culture.
We worked closely with festival director Jian Yi to develop the visual direction of the festival, design the identity, website, posters, programme and social media content.
Glowing auras, blurred imagery and emotive colours come together to create a spiritual visual landscape which captures these themes while hinting at contemporary club culture and dance music through symbolism, bold typography, fluorescent colours and movement.
Across three days of live performances with techno music, dance, film-screenings, artists’ workshops and a panel discussion with special guest speakers, you could engage in collective experiences of ritual and community at the festival.
We looked to capture this diverse and energetic energy with the visual direction and social media artworks.
Bringing the website to life with an animated homepage which 'breathes' allowed us to elevate the website beyond its' original function and perform as a memorable and artistic component of the festival campaign.
